Margaret T. Frelund

LTJG Frelund is a naturalized citizen from Kerala, India. She earned a Bachelor of Science from Karpagam Arts and Science College in 2005 and a Masters of Science from Royal Holloway University of London in 2007. She graduated from Urshan Graduate School of Theology with a Masters in Divinity in 2013. LTJG Frelund also completed five units of Clinical Pastoral Education with St.Louis VA, Jefferson Barracks, and Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. She served as a healthcare chaplain from 2015 to 2022. She is board certified through the Spiritual Care Association and volunteered as a certified CISM counselor. In 2020, she received her Grief Support Specialist Certification from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. LTJG Frelund is ordained through the non-denominational faith community, Great Grace Church of Santa Monica, and is endorsed by the Coalition of Spirit-Filled Churches.
LTJG Frelund received several opportunities to give guest lectures for nursing students on the topic of “Grief and Loss.” During her ministry, Frelund was awarded “Guardian of Angel” award three different times from patients/family by donating money to organizations when team members impact lives of patients and families.
After nine years in the civilian pastoral ministry and healthcare chaplaincy, LTJG Frelund commissioned on 30 August 2021 to Active Duty ministry in the US Navy Chaplain Corps. She graduated from Officer Development School in February 2022 and the Chaplain Basic Leadership Course April of the same year.
On 21 April 2022, LTJG Frelund assumed her current duties as Deputy Command Chaplain in MCBH Kaneohe Bay, HI and leads the weekly Protestant Faith Services at the Chapel.
