Robert K. Maldonado

LtCol Maldonado was born in the Bronx, New York. He received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Cornell University in June 1994 and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant through the Officer Candidates Course in December 1994.
Upon completion of The Basic School and the Basic Communications Officers Course, Quantico, VA in 1995, he was transferred to 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Okinawa, Japan where he served as the Communications Officer for Marine Air Control Squadron 4 and a Platoon Commander and Assistant Operations Officer for Marine Wing Communications Squadron 18.
During October 1998, he reported to the Defense Information Systems Agency, Arlington, VA where he served as a Program Manager, Special Projects Officer, and Aide-de-Camp to the Director. During this tour he deployed to Kosovo for participation in Operation JOINT GUARDIAN as a Joint Liaison Officer to the United States Army's 1st Infantry Division.
From June 2001 to September 2002, Captain Maldonado attended resident Command and Control Systems Course in Quantico, VA and upon graduation in 2002, remained in Quantico as a Platoon Commander at Officer Candidate School.
In October 2002, he reported to 1st Force Service Support Group where he served as the Executive Officer for Communications Company and as the Deputy Assistance Chief of Staff G-6. In June of 2005 he assumed the duties of the Commanding Officer, Communications Company. During this tour he deployed three times to Iraq in support of Operation ENDURING and IRAQI FREEDOM.
From June 2006 to June 2007, Maj Maldonado attended resident Marine Corps Command and Staff College, Quantico VA where he earned his Master's Degree in Military Studies.
During 2007, he then reported to the United States Strategic Command's Joint Task Force-Global Network Operations in Arlington, VA, where he served as a Plans Officer and as a Liaison to the Director of National Intelligence. During 2009, he was temporarily reassigned to Fort Meade, MD, and served as an Operational Planner for the newly established United States Cyber Command.
From Aug 2010 to May 2013, LtCol Maldonado was assigned to 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, MCAS Miramar, CA where he served as the Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff, G-6. During this tour, he deployed two times to Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, one of which was a year long assignment as the Assistant Chief of Staff, G-6, 3d Marine Aircraft Wing (Forward).
His personal decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with one Gold Star, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
