Phillip J. Billiot

Sergeant Major Billiot is a native of Houma, Louisiana and enlisted in the Marine Corps in July 1992. He completed recruit training at MCRD San Diego, Ca., in October 1992 and later completed Marine Combat Training in November of 1992. In December of 1992 he attended the Motor Transport Operators Course and received the MOS of 3531. After completion of MOS school he received orders to 8th Motor Transportation Battalion, Camp Lejeune, N.C., and was later attached to MSSG 22 where he completed two Mediterranean deployments.
In 1995 he was transferred to 2nd Medical Battalion and served as the platoon sergeant for the Motor Transport Platoon until January of 1998. Later in 1998, he received orders to Henderson Hall, Arlington, Va., where he served as the platoon sergeant for the Navy Detachment until 2002. While stationed in Arlington, Va., he attended the Marine Corps Martial Arts Instructor Trainers Course and earned a first degree black belt instructor trainer certification.
Later in 2002 he received orders to Parris Island, S.C., where he attended Drill Instructor School and was later assigned to the 1st Recruit Training Battalion where he served as drill instructor, senior drill instructor and later as the 1st Recruit Training Battalion drill master.
After a successful tour of duty he was transferred to Combat Logistics Battalion-4 Okinawa, Japan in 2005 where he served as platoon sergeant and
company gunnery sergeant. While assigned to CLB-4 he completed two combat deployments to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In July of 2008 he received orders to HQBN, 2nd Marine Division Camp Lejeune, N.C., where he served as the operations chief for Truck Company A.
In 2009 he was promoted to first sergeant, received orders to 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, and completed one combat deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2011 as the Company E first sergeant.
In February 2012, he was transferred to Marine Corps Combat Service Support Schools, Camp Johnson, N.C., where he served as company first sergeant for Logistics Operations School. In 2014 he was promoted to his current rank and assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 26, completing one deployment into 5th and 6th Fleet Areas of Responsibilities. In May 2016, Sgt Maj. Billiot assumed his present post as the battalion sergeant major for Headquarters Battalion, Marine Corps Base Hawaii.
Sgt Maj. Billiot holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Homeland Security and Emergency Management. His personal awards include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal with gold star, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with 2 gold stars and combat distinguishing device, Navy Achievement Medal and the Combat Action Ribbon.
