MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII -- The Hawaii Department of Education has contracted a project to provide major campus improvements to Mokapu Elementary School. Work began on Feb. 1, 2023, and is expected to occur over the course of the next five years. The first phase of the project is the erection of two multi-story classroom buildings. The second phase of the project is the demolition of the existing campus and constructing a covered play court and student dining facility.
Construction work will begin at 7:00 a.m. and conclude around 4:30 p.m. each day, Monday through Friday. Contractors have plans to mitigate dust and reduce noise, however these are still to be expected during this project.
