MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII -- Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam has rescinded the boil water advisory in effect since Friday, Oct. 14. Camp Smith, Pu’uloa Range Training Facility, and Manana Housing are no long under a boil water advisory. This change is following the successful repair of the water main break and test results showing no bacteria present in the water system. Water samples were taken from multiple points throughout the water system and tested at a local, third-party laboratory. The results were shared with the State Department of Health.
As the system returns to full functionality, residents may initially see sediment in their water. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends water system users flush their water lines for five minutes after the boil water advisory has been lifted. Users should also empty their ice bins and allow them to completely re-fill. Throw away the next batch of ice, then clean the ice bin with a cleaning agent.
Additional updates will be posted as needed to the Joint Base Facebook (www.facebook.com/jbphh) and on the web at Commander, Navy Region Hawaii > Installations > JB Pearl Harbor-Hickam > JBPHH Water Main Break Information.
