 Private Wells enlisted in the Marine Corps at RSS London, Kentucky and reported for recruit training at MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina, on 28 June 1994.  Upon completion of recruit training, he reported to MCLB Albany, Georgia for MOS training as a Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment Technician (2871).

 

On 1 October 1995, upon successful completion of MOS school, Lance Corporal Wells was sent to Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, California for service with Combat Service Support Group-1, 1st Force Service Support Group.  On 2 November 1997, Corporal Wells was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Sergeant. 

 

On 31 July 1998, Sergeant Wells was reassigned to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina for service with 2nd Maintenance Battalion, 2nd Force Service Support Group.  In May 1999 he reported to the metrology school aboard Biloxi AFB, Biloxi, Mississippi where he earned his secondary MOS as a metrology technician (2874).  On 1 January 2001, while serving with 2nd Maintenance Battalion, Sergeant Wells was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.  It was also while serving with 2nd Maintenance Battalion that Staff Sergeant Wells participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Staff Sergeant Wells returned from Operation Iraqi Freedom on 15 June 2003 and was transferred to Okinawa, Japan for service with Materiel Readiness Battalion,  Force Service Support Group on 27 September 2003.

 

                On 1 March 2004, while serving with Materiel Readiness Battalion, Staff Sergeant Wells was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.  In July 2004, Gunnery Sergeant Wells was appointed as the Company Gunnery Sergeant of Electronics Maintenance Company.  In October 2004, Gunnery Sergeant Wells attended the Advanced Course at the SNCOA, Okinawa, Japan where he finished as the Honor Graduate.  Gunnery Sergeant Wells was also awarded the III MEF Leadership Award while stationed with Materiel Readiness Battalion.  On 1 September 2006, Gunnery Sergeant Wells was subsequently transferred for instructor duty at the SNCO Academy, Okinawa, Japan. 

 

                On 31 May 2007, upon his promotion to First Sergeant, First Sergeant Wells returned to Twentynine Palms for service with 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines, as a Company First Sergeant.  On 17 February 2008, First Sergeant Wells deployed with the battalion to Al Anbar Province, Iraq.  On 9 October 2009 he again deployed with the battalion, this time to Nimruz Province, Afghanistan.  On 1 July 2010, First Sergeant Wells transferred to Headquarters Company, 7th Marine Regiment to assume duties as the Headquarters Company First Sergeant. 

 

On 25 February 2011, First Sergeant Wells was transferred to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina where he assumed his duties at General Support Motor Transport Company, Combat Logistics Regiment 2, 2D Marine Logistics Group.  On 13 June 2012, Sergeant Major Wells assumed the duties of the Squadron Sergeant Major for VMM-162.  While assigned to VMM-162, Sergeant Major Wells deployed in support of the Special MAGTF Crisis Response Force based in Moron, Spain.  On 18 February 2014, Sergeant Major Wells transferred to HMLA-167, and assumed the duties of the Squadron Sergeant Major.  On 2 July 2015, Sergeant Major Wells reported to the Marine Corps Communication-Electronics School and assumed the duties of the Group Sergeant Major. 

On 29 December 2017, Sergeant Major Wells transferred to MCB Hawaii, and assumed the duties of the Base Sergeant Major.
