MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII – U.S. Marine Corps Col. Speros C. Koumparakis relinquished command of Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH) to Col. Jeremy W. Beaven during a Change of Command Ceremony, May 25, 2023.

Maj. Gen. Stephen E. Liszewski, Commanding General of Marine Corps Installations Pacific, presided over the ceremony and was one of several distinguished visitors in attendance, which included: Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi, Hawaii State Sen. Jeremy Keohokalole and Sen. Chris Lee, Hawaii State Rep. Natalia Hussey-Burdick and Rep. Lisa Marten, General and senior officers from the various commands across Hawaii, city council and community leaders.
Even for the most experienced swimmers, the ocean is a vast and often dangerous place. Ocean conditions are always unpredictable and can change rapidly without warning. To keep beachgoers safe and capable of enjoying the beautiful beaches on Marine Corps Base Hawaii, the MCBH Installation Safety Office hosted a summer safety concert on North Beach called the “101 Critical Days of Summer North Beach Summer Concert,” Friday, May 12, 2023.

“The purpose of today’s event was to get everybody together to inject some fun and deliver a safety message as we start the 101 days of summer,” said Robert McCarthy, the MCBH Installation Safety Director.
MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII – A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH) and Peapae o He’eia, a Hawaii Nonprofit Organization, was signed for the co-stewardship of the Nu’upia Ponds Wildlife Management Area (WMA), May 15, 2023.
MARINE CORPS TRAINING AREA BELLOWS - With the return of the sea turtle nesting period approaching, Marine Corps Base Hawai‘i (MCBH) and the Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) are announcing the suspension of overnight at camping for Bellows Field Beach Park from Tuesday, May 16 through Thursday, Aug. 31, 2023.
MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII – The U.S. Navy has completed the draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for Construction of a C-40A Aircraft Maintenance Hangar at Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH) and is seeking public review and comment on the analysis and conclusions in the draft EA. The public comment period is now open and will continue unit May 28, 2023.
As the primary resident on the unique and culturally significant Mokapu peninsula, Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH) takes its stewardship responsibilities of cultural resources seriously. As part of that responsibility, MCBH employs a passionate team of military and civilian personnel to aid in protection and preservation of Mokapu’s cultural resources.
