MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII -- Contractors will begin removing invasive mangrove trees from federal property along the H-3 Interstate and Kaneohe Bay shoreline outside of the MCBH main gate Wednesday, March 29. As this is federal property, MCBH is required by law to manage and remove invasive plant species, such as the mangrove trees.
Out of consideration for the Kaneohe Bay shoreline, contractors will avoid using any large equipment and will remove the trees by hand. The area along the shoreline is also restrictive and is difficult to access with large equipment. This project is not expected to impact the flow of traffic along the H-3. Thank you for your patience as we work to maintain the federal property surrounding our installation.
