Aircraft mishap drill
10 Jun 2013

Personnel from Marine Corps Base Hawaii will conduct an aircraft mishap drill, June 11, offshore and approximately one mile northeast of Pyramid Rock Beach. Kailua and Kaneohe residents may notice increased aircraft and watercraft activity from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

During this time, local and military emergency vehicles will respond to exercise incidents. Residents may see smoke from 10 flares between 9 and 11 a.m.

The drill will focus on communication requirements for all subordinate, lateral and higher agencies and is designed to enhance aviation safety by simulating events that could occur if there were an actual mishap. It will also afford base commands the opportunity to work with local, state and federal agencies to enhance mission readiness.
