MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII -- On Sunday, April 24, a Marine stationed aboard Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH) died while swimming in the waters near North Beach, MCBH. Installation first responders and members of the Honolulu Fire Department responded and began a coordinated search after receiving a call for emergency services. After locating the service member, first responders administered lifesaving measures and transported the Marine to a local hospital. The Marine was later pronounced deceased by competent medical authorities.
The next of kin of the deceased have been notified and a Casualty Assistance Calls Officer has been assigned to provide resources and assistance. The incident is under investigation by NCIS and local authorities.
