31st MEU conducts realistic urban training on Oahu
28 Dec 2021

Elements of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit will conduct a series of training events on Oahu, Jan. 3-13, 2022. The training will involve approximately 100 Marines and local law enforcement personnel conducting a variety of mission-essential tasks necessary to prepare them for deployment across the Indo-Pacific. These events will feature simulated visit, board, search, and seizure and maritime interdiction operations at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, followed by a series of simulated direct action, limited-scale raids at four off-installation, pre-coordinated locations. This realistic urban training exercise has been coordinated with the state government, local land owners and law enforcement authorities. The Honolulu Police Department and other law-enforcement agencies will participate in the training in order to remain proficient in their demanding skills in similar environments. Members of the public may hear increased noise from ground tactical vehicles, military aircraft, blank gunfire and simulated breaching explosives. Law enforcement personnel and military exercise staff will be on-site for each simulated raid.

The point of contact for further questions or inquiries is Capt. Eric Abrams, MCBH COMMSTRAT, at 808-257-1364.
