MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII -- Marine Corps Base Hawaii is aware of the recent high bacterial levels associated with the treated effluent from the Water Reclamation Facility. This effluent discharge was tested again on August 30th and results were received on September 3rd showing Enterococci levels are below permit limits. There is currently no risk to public health associated with the effluent discharge shared by the base and the City and County of Honolulu’s Kailua Regional Waste Water Treatment Plant, and MCBH’s Wastewater Reclamation Facility and Environmental Compliance and Protection Division will continue to monitor the system closely. Marine Corps Base Hawaii is dedicated to preserving the environment and recognizes the important role good stewardship plays in our future success
