Marine Corps Base (MCB) Hawaii will be installing a new security shade structure at the H-3 “Main” Gate from 11 March to 10 May. During these 45 days, delays at the H-3 “Main” Gate and increased traffic volume in and out of the Mokapu “Back” Gate are expected. The project will allow the base to maintain one inbound and one outbound lane for the duration of the project. For individuals requiring base access, the H-3 “Main” Gate Pass House will remain unaffected through the duration of this project.
During the peak morning hours 0600-0830, an alternate traffic plan at the H-3 “Main” Gate will be implemented by the MCB Hawaii Provost Marshall. All outbound traffic from the base will be redirected to the Mokapu “Back” Gate for these hours only. Residents along Mokapu Blvd. may experience an increase in traffic as well as large commercial vehicles.
Additionally, MCB Hawaii will conduct a complete gate closure of the H-3 “Main” Gate from 25-28 April (Thurs-Sun) for 6 hour blocks, 2200-0400. At that time, all traffic will be directed to enter and exit through the Mokapu “Back” Gate.
