Gen. Michael Langley becomes the Marine Corps' first Black four-star general - U.S. Marine Corps Gen. Michael E. Kyle Wetter, the staff noncommissioned officer in charge for the marksmanship training division with Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Installations West, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, spends time with the Hurley family after an award ceremony on Camp Pendleton, Calif., June 30, 2022. Wetter was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for the heroism he displayed in December 2020 after he saw the Hurley’s car burst into flames on the side of a road during his drive home. CWO4 Hershel “Woody” Williams, the last living Medal of Honor recipient from World War II, was honored at Memorial services in Charleston, W. Va. Family, friends, fellow Marines, and people from all over the country came to pay respects to Woody while he lay in state at the State Capitol Rotunda, July 2 and 3. A State Memorial Service in Woody’s honor was held at the State Culture Center Theater the afternoon of July 3. The service included several tributes, to include special remarks by the Commandant of the Marine Corps, General David. H. Berger, and the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps, Sgt. Maj. Troy E. Hospital Corpsman 1st Class Gray is a preventive medicine technician at 2nd MEB. He manages medical readiness and advises senior staff on all matters of force health protection. Gray describes what it means to be a Navy Corpsman, “Being a Navy Corpsman means being compassionate, caring, a mentor, a guide, a brother or sister to Sailors and Marines. I like being with the Marines and taking care of them. They will always take care of you. It’s a special bond – Corpsman and Marine.
