Marine Corps Base Hawaii -- As of Aug. 28, 2014, clinical functions performed in the 3rd Marine Regimental Aid Station, building 1058, have been temporarily relocated to the C Pod in the Naval Health Clinic Hawaii Kaneohe Bay Branch. Non-clinical functions will continue to be performed at the RAS.
Lance Lee, the deputy director of Marine Corps Base Hawaii’s Installations, Environment and Logistics Directorate, said while other temporary alternative locations are currently being assessed, a multimillion-dollar project to construct a new facility is being planned for construction in 2016 and completion in 2018.
“There is a Marine Corps-wide initiative to create a Marine Centered Medical Home,” Lee said. “That facility will include not only the RAS and battalion aid stations but will also consolidate those functions with the current medical and dental clinics.”
He added that current alternatives include keeping services available at NHCH or relocating services to another facility on base. Lee said the Marine Aircraft Group 24 RAS at the flightline remains open while currently undergoing construction, and the Combat Logistics Battalion 3 Battalion Aid Station remains unaffected.
During MCB Hawaii’s annual Lethal Breeze exercise, the RAS clinical function will remain open at NHCH, even though the rest of the branch will be closed Monday and Tuesday.
