KC-130J Fuselage Trainer Delivered to MCAS Kaneohe Bay Months Ahead of Schedule, Advancing Force Design Capabilities

In a significant milestone for Force Design implementation and aviation readiness, the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing successfully received a KC-130J fuselage trainer (FuT) at Marine Aviation Training Systems Site Kaneohe Bay.

A civilian member died following a drowning incident at Pyramid Rock Beach, Hawaii, on the morning of July 29, 2026.

MCBH Wastewater Exceedance

MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII -- On May 5, 2026, heavy rain caused the Marine Corps Base Hawaiʻi (MCBH) Wastewater Reclamation Facility (WRF) to release effluent with bacteria levels that exceeded permit limits. The released effluent mixes with treated effluent from the City and County of Honolulu’s Kailua Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant before it discharges approximately two miles offshore at a depth of 110 feet into the natural mixing zone of the ocean. The risk of direct public exposure to MCBH exceedance is extremely low. The Hawaiʻi Department of Health recommends the public to stay out of the water for 48-72 hours after rain fall and beaches have received full sunshine. MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAI’I –On February 9, 2026, severe weather and heavy rain caused the Marine Corps Base Hawai’i (MCBH) Wastewater Reclamation Facility (WRF) to release effluent with bacteria levels that exceeded permit limits.

MCBH Wastewater Release Exceeds Permit Limitations

On November 17, 2025, MCBH experienced a temporary electrical failure in the secondary clarifier at its Wastewater Reclamation Facility (WRF), resulting in a release of effluent exceeding permit limitations for bacteria. The electrical short has been repaired and facility operations have returned to normal.

Marine Corps Base Hawaii Announces 2025 Kaneohe Bay Airshow

MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII – Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH) is excited to announce the 2025 Kaneohe Bay Airshow from Aug. 8-10, 2025. The Airshow is opened to the public from Aug. 9-10, 2025 with Aug. 8, 2025 being reserved for Military Appreciation Day. All three days of the Airshow will take place on MCBH.

Blue Angels 2025 Kaneohe Bay Air Show Winter Visit

Media representatives are invited to Marine Corps Base Hawaii for the Blue Angel Winter visit on 10 January 2025 in preparation for the August 2025 Kaneohe Bay Airshow. Media will be able to interview BA 7 Major Scott “Goldie” Laux and BA 8 LCDR Lilly “Lunchbox” Montana from 0840 – 0855 at the Marine Corps Air Station terminal. This opportunity will offer attendees an opportunity to garnish interest for future coverage of the upcoming airshow in August which showcases the teamwork and professionalism of the Marine Corps, sister military services, and the community.
