U.S. Marine Gunnery Sgt. Frank Dugger, the maintenance control chief for Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 463, poses with one of his squadron’s CH-53E Super Stallion helicopters on Marine Corps Air Station Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, July 25, 2012. The 41-year-old native of Tallahassee, Fla., nearly died from two cardiac episodes while deployed to Afghanistan in 2009. Dugger used his second chance to turn his life around. He quit drinking, began eating more healthily and decided to complete a triathlon. Less than a year later, he completed an Ironman triathlon in Cozumel, Mexico. In total, he’s finished 9 marathons and 30 triathlons.
