Lance Cpl. Brandon Benz-Marrs, an assaultman attached to 3rd Platoon, Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, from Wailuku, Maui in Hawaii, prepares to launch a bag of fuses into a fire which was created to destroy explosives paraphernalia found during a Charlie Company discovery of over one thousand pounds of explosives allegedly used for making improvised explosive devices, commonly known as IEDs, which were uncovered in a suspected insurgent safe house near the remote mountain village of Salar Ban in the Shuryak Valley of Kunar Province in eastern Afghanistan.
