MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII - Sgt. Maj. Steven E. Collier, command sergeant major, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, encourages the Island Warriors to donate a toy to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program behind the battalion offices, Dec. 21, 2012. The unit went on a three-mile morning run, with many of the service members carrying toys and wearing festive decor. The unit collected more than 700 toys for the program. "We know a lot of families (and military families) benefit from (Toys for Tots)," said Maj. Brian Harvey, operations officer, Headquarters and Service Company, 2nd Bn., 3rd Marines. "This is our way of giving back." After the run, the Island Warriors loaded the toys into a truck and enjoyed some breakfast and social time. This is the unit's second year giving to Toys for Tots. Last year, they went on a hike, carrying gear and toys. "It's a fun way to start the holiday season and give back to the local community," said Lt. Col. Justin S. Dunne, 2nd Bn., 3rd Marines commanding officer. (Official U.S. Marine Corps photo by Kristen Wong)
