Lance Cpl. Jacob Baker, a cryptologic linguist with 3rd Radio Battalion (3rd RADBN), is awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal by Lt. Col. William Osborne, the commanding officer of 3rd RADBN, Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Feb. 16, 2018. Three Marines, including Baker, conducted a late night search and rescue for a lost hiker back in January 2018. The Marines covered 10 miles at about 3000 feet in elevation under rainy conditions, eventually finding and returning back with the hiker. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt. Members of NASA’s HyspIRI preparatory campaign perform pre-flight checks and maintenance on their ER-2 aircraft, Marine Corps Air Station Kaneohe Bay, Feb. 2, 2018. The campaign’s goal is to gather environmental data from the Hawaiian Islands, such as coral reef health and volcanic activity, to ultimately pave the way for the deployment of a satellite sharing the same mission.
