New Marine Rotational Force Deploys to Norway for Winter Training alongside Norwegian Allies October 28, 2020 — The Marines and Sailors of the “Teufelhunden Battalion” are the next rotational deployment of Marine Rotational Force-Europe. After a quarantine period at their training location in Norway, to mitigate the risk of COVID exposure and transmission, the Marines will conduct bilateral arctic warfare training, improve interoperability, and strengthen defense capabilities alongside Norwegian allies. Extending the range: Marines secure maritime terrain, deploy rocket system October 1, 2020 — U.S. Marines refined their ability to rapidly deploy to remote regional islands in order to control key maritime terrain as 3rd Marine Division and 3rd Marine Logistics Group conducted operations September 23 - 25 centered on the Okinawan island of Ie Shima. Prepare to be Boarded: 31st MEU - America ARG conduct VBSS rehearsal in South China Sea September 24, 2020 — The 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and America Amphibious Ready Group executed a simulated visit, board, search, and seizure mission, here, September 6. Specialized Navy Sailors Deployed with Marine Squadron ahead of V-22 Transition September 14, 2020 — In February, the U.S. Navy took delivery of the first CMV-22B Osprey aircraft as the primary aircraft to conduct Airborne Re-supply/Logistics to the Sea Base. Location of sunken AAV, remains found off San Clemente Island August 4, 2020 — Officials with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, I Marine Expeditionary Force, and the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group positively identified on August 3 the location of the amphibious assault vehicle that sunk off the coast of San Clemente Island on July 30.
