MCB Hawaii practice pyrotechnics for upcoming air show

MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII — In preparation for the Kaneohe Bay Air Show and Open House “Wall of Fire” pyrotechnics display, the base will conduct rehearsals Sept. 26 and Oct. 3 between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.

The rehearsals at Marine Corps Air Station, Kaneohe Bay will be conducted under controlled conditions with demolitions experts and safety personnel on hand, including aircraft rescue and firefighting, military police, airfield safety, and explosive ordnance disposal.

Local residents may see a wall of fire and smoke, as well as hear simulated artillery explosions from the runway.

Marine Corps Base Hawaii received approval from the State of Hawaii Department of Health’s Clean Air Branch to conduct special effects displays to simulate artillery blasts and fires during rehearsals and the Kaneohe Bay Air Show, Oct. 17 and 18.
