Water advisory amended at Manana
1 Mar 2022

The Hawaii Department of Health (DOH) amended the health advisory for the Manana Housing Community today, signifying water in the community is safe to drink. The DOH amendment is located at (https://health.hawaii.gov/news/).

While the water at Manana has been deemed safe by DOH, TLA will continue to be approved for Manana residents for 48 hours following official notification. We understand residents may still have concerns about their water, and we will always take these concerns seriously. Please continue to use the Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH) Family Housing Advocacy Department as your single point of contact to address any issues.

MCBH issued a “do not use” advisory for the water at Manana Housing Community Jan. 6, 2022, due to a low chlorine reading on a water sample and visual indications of potential bacterial growth. Multiple tests following this advisory showed no elevated levels of bacteria present at Manana. Earlier sampling results from NAVFAC and HI DOH as well as separate testing in December and January from the Board of Water Supply and MCBH facilities showed no elevated levels of hydrocarbons.
